Campbell Boat Owners Website
Our 39th Regatta was a huge success on Sept
16-18, 2011. We had perfect weather, a great beach, plenty of food and lots
of good friends to share it all with. The Regatta formally kicked off Friday
night with an unusually large turn-out at Montana's Steak House with
registration, and distributing t-shirts. The following morning, we gathered
our boats in Thompson Bay, caravanned through the Channel and up River to Park
Moabi. A small advance party of owners and friends had arrived at the beach at
7:30 AM and secured 450 linear feet of prime sandy beach across from Pirate
Cove, and at 11:00 AM 35 boats showed up at the beach; all bringing good food,
good attitudes, and warm welcomes for old friends. New friendships were formed
on the beach when members went running around exchanging cards while playing
High/Low Party Poker. Mitch Parker performed his traditional carne asada
magic, aided by an advisory staff of his brother Steve, and Brad Riggen. There
was so much good food on the tables that it was difficult to sample
everything, but most of us tried really hard to do so. Our beach party ended
with a raffle for a certificate for a boat lettering job which was generously
donated by local craftsman, Bob Thompson. Sunday morning the party continued
with about 20 boats showing up at Havasu Springs for breakfast. Following
breakfast, some members had to head home; however, there were many other
owners who continued to socialize in various coves.
There is already a lot of
excitement about plans for next year's Regatta. Thanks to all the Campbell
Owners who attended this event. Several members expressed an interest in
volunteering their time and talents in planning and executing the next event.
Their offers are greatly appreciated. The success of this event was made
possible by a number of people who contributed their time, effort and skills.
Once again we appreciate all your volunteerism to help keep this event the
stand-out it is, thanks to all of you.
We hope to see even more of
our Campbell friends at next year's 40th.
